The Nordkette Vertical is a 7 km mountain race in Innsbruck, ascending 1,350 vertical metres from the Hungerburgbahn Station ORF Tirol to the Seegrube. It is a straightforward, challenging uphill run: participants depart the city's edge and proceed directly into the Nordkette, the steep mountain face above the Tyrolean capital.
The course follows the steep cable-car path, offering runners expansive views back over Innsbruck during the ascent. Men and women are ranked separately, with overall and age-group results spanning from over 20 to over 65. The event bestows the title of NordkettenkaiserIn at the finish ceremony.
