About this race
Fig Tree Flat, also known as Willow Tree Flat, places participants directly into the Royal National Park bushland, beyond Audley, for the Sri Chinmoy Sydney Series: Royal National Park. As the Series finale, it carries an end-of-season atmosphere, but its appeal is straightforward: marked trail courses winding through forested areas of the park, with the start and finish conveniently located, ensuring “parking near the start and finish area.”
A practical trail morning is anticipated, distinct from a polished production. Runners depart in waves, collecting race number bibs on race morning. Some will utilize the shuttle from Loftus Station, while others manage the national park vehicle entry fee. The course consists of park trails and trees, not the smoothness of a road race, and its minor peculiarities contribute to the event: wave starts, on-the-day entries, and a series designed “for your fitness, enjoyment and self-transcendence.”
