About this race
SwissPeaks Trail is a trail-running series in the Swiss Alps, offering distances from short mountain races to multi-day ultras. Routes are advertised from 10 km to 700 km, with the longest listed race at 643 km. It takes place in Switzerland’s Valais region, including the Dents du Midi area, between late August and early September. Races begin in Morgins and Val-d’Illiez. The shortest races are 10 km and a half-marathon. The marathon covers 46 km with 2,480 m of elevation gain, and another race is 72.6 km with 4,387 m of gain.
The significant distances of SwissPeaks set it apart: the 643 km race involves 43,800 m of climbing and descending, limited to 100 participants. The 397 km race has 27,530 m of climbing, and the 168 km race is the series’ 100-mile option. The courses traverse from Lake Geneva to the peaks and glaciers of Valais, transitioning runners from lake-level terrain to high alpine environments. The event welcomes beginners, club runners, and experienced ultra runners. Major long races award ITRA points, attracting international participants to Canton Valais.
