About this race
Metsä Group Seurakisat offers free, open children’s club competitions in Huittinen, Finland. Events include cross-country running at Huittinen Riding Centre and Kännölä, and track-and-field evenings at Huittinen Sports Field. The series is for families and young athletes developing basic movement skills. Children can participate without being part of a sports school or holding a competition license. Registration occurs at the venue before each event, followed by a shared warm-up, with competitions beginning in the early evening.
The program features age-group events for 5-, 7-, 9-, and 11- to 13-year-olds. Cross-country races vary from 300 metres for the youngest to 1400 metres for the oldest. Athletics events include sprints, long jump, ball throw, sand-pit jumping, javelin, and a child-friendly “vinkukeihäs” javelin. Each participant receives a Seurakisakortti to track appearances with stickers and record summer results at home. Individual events do not award prizes; results contribute to race points, and all participants are recognized at the Kunniakierros event.
