About this race
The Evrotas Run begins at Peristeri Square in the Municipality of Eurotas, Laconia, featuring 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km races, alongside a 1 km run for children and parents. This local series, limited to 200 participants, has been held for over ten years. The Athletic-Cultural Association Kallisthenis organizes the event, supported by the Municipality of Eurotas, EOLMA-Y, local communities, cultural associations, civil protection groups, and nearby village organizations.
The half marathon follows a circular path across the Eurotas plain, going through Peristeri, Filisi, Agios Georgios, Eurotas Bridge, Skala, Leimonas, and the second Eurotas Bridge, before reaching Elos and Vlachióti and returning to Peristeri. The 10 km race is an out-and-back course through Peristeri, Filisi, Agios Georgios, Eurotas Bridge, and Skala, turning around at the 5 km mark. The routes wind through orange groves, with both main courses being very flat. The half marathon has minimal elevation change for approximately 90% of its length, and the 10 km route is entirely flat. The race emphasizes a simple local message: running fosters friendships, a concept organizers link to participants who have met companions through past races.
