Hunterville Huntaway Festival Shepherds' Shemozzle 2026

The Hunterville Huntaway Festival features the Shepherds' Shemozzle, a muddy cross-country obstacle race where shepherds and working dog handlers compete with their Huntaway dogs. This is the festival's signature race. The day also includes junior, intermediate, and teen Shemozzle categories, offering children and secondary school students their own mud, obstacles, and course challenges. The course emphasizes country-style adventure racing over road running, incorporating mud, stations, mystery tasks, teamwork challenges, and obstacles. Alongside the racing, spectators can view dog trialling and speed shearing, browse stalls, and follow other rural competitions. This makes the event as much a working-dog and farming-community festival as a race day.
