About this race
Round the Vines begins and ends at Memorial Square in Martinborough, located in New Zealand’s South Wairarapa wine region. This is an annual 10 km and 21.1 km run or walk, with separate starts for walkers and runners, allowing participants to select a pace that suits them. The event also serves as a significant fundraiser for Martinborough School, described by organizers as New Zealand’s largest small-school fundraiser.
The course leads from town onto rural roads and through Martinborough vineyards, including sections not usually accessible to the public. Four aid stations are positioned around the course, offering water and fruit. The atmosphere is more social than competitive; participants may wear activewear or costumes. Live music is provided along the route, and the finish is followed by a prize ceremony featuring food, local wines, awards, and additional entertainment.
