Piona dla Niepodległej, translated as “High Five for Independence,” is a community running event held in Jarosław, Poland, with its focus on the city’s Market Square. The event coincides with Jarosław’s 650th anniversary and Poland’s independence anniversary, blending a straightforward public race with a local patriotic gathering.
Participants ran with local officials, such as Deputy Starost Krzysztof Cebulak, who took part in the symbolic “high five” gesture supporting a free Poland. Commemorative medals were presented to finishers by public figures including MP Tadeusz Chrzan, Cebulak, and Mayor Marcin Nazarewicz. Organizers expressed gratitude to the runners, spectators, and volunteers for contributing to the atmosphere around the square.
