Jesienny Festiwal Szakala
SAT OCT 24
Jesienny Festiwal Szakala is a two-day autumn running festival in Łódź, held on the last weekend of October in Łagiewniki Forest and the Łódź Upland Landscape Park. Runners can choose from several trail-style races: the Ultra Szakal of about 51-52 km, the Half Marathon Szakala around Łagiewniki Forest, a 7.8 km cross-country race, and a children’s race called Bieg Szakalątek. There is also the Szlem Szakala, a combined classification for runners who complete both the ultra and the half marathon. The routes use forest paths and dirt roads rather than city streets, with marked courses and track files available for navigation. The short cross race is aimed at runners who usually race 5 km but want a tougher off-road step, and its route goes over the hills and paths of Łagiewniki Forest. The festival is organized by Sports Club Szakale Bałut Łódź, and its identity is tied closely to local runners, autumn forest conditions, and the Łódź trail scene.
IV Szlem Szakala: Ultra + Półmaraton
SAT OCT 24
Szlem Szakala is a two-day running festival in Łódź’s Łagiewniki Forest, featuring a 52 km ultra, a half marathon, and a cross-country race. Participants can also compete in the combined Szlem classification, linking the events for a greater challenge. The ultra has a 150-participant cap and an 8-hour time limit, creating a compact forest race atmosphere rather than a large mass start. The routes consist mainly of forest paths and dirt roads, with some paved sections and stretches alongside public roads. The ultra begins near Parking Leśny in Las Tadziński and concludes at the Horse Trail Service Center on Wycieczkowa Street. Ribbons and organizer signs mark the course, with volunteers assisting at difficult navigation points, and track files are available for GPS devices. Ultra runners have access to two aid stations offering food and drinks. Mandatory items include weather-appropriate clothing, a pack or belt, at least 0.7 liters of fluids, an emergency blanket, a chipped bib, and a charged phone.

About Marathon races in Łódź

Łódź Training Notes

Łódź hosts 5 Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run Park na Zdrowiu when they want easy base miles, lit paths, and winter asphalt that still works. Park Poniatowskiego gives them parkrun, varied ground, and a hill for strength work. Park Julianowski keeps things mostly asphalt, with enough bumps for steady intervals. Las Łagiewnicki and Uroczysko Lublinek handle longer Z2 days, trail legs, and race prep. KB Arturówek meets in Arturówek, while Night Runners use Park na Zdrowiu on Tuesday nights. Bieg Fabrykanta Lodz, Bieg Ulica Piotrkowska Rossman Run Lodz, and Pko Wieczorny Polmaraton Lodz sit as the anchor races.

Locals ride Trasa Górna when they want clean asphalt cycling roads without overthinking the route. Park Krajobrazowy Wzniesień Łódzkich gives road, gravel, and the closest proper climbing feel around the city. The Dell Loop works for road bike training and times comparison. Bikeplanet runs weekly group rides across gravel, road, and MTB, while CDDP leans gravel and Cyklomaniacy suits pure bred roadies, shaved legs and all. cc adds coffee and group rides. The steepest segments hit 1 km with 990 m ascent.

May and June are the best riding months, and locals use them for base miles, faster group rides, and long gran fondo days out of town. Summer keeps runners split between Park na Zdrowiu, Las Łagiewnicki, Popioły, and the shaded forest options near Lublinek. Winter changes the rhythm but not the routine. Park na Zdrowiu stays useful because its asphalt and cross-country trails are lit and plowed, Trasa Górna stays handy for dark-season running, and Szakale Bałut brings winter running excursions when solo Z2 gets stale.
