Zabrzańskie Szosowe Wyścigi Rowerowe Niezrzeszonych

The Zabrze Road Cycling Races for Non-Affiliated Riders are street bike races in Zabrze for individuals not affiliated with cycling clubs or professional training. Entry is free, targeting general cycling enthusiasts across 11 age groups, from young children to seniors. Organizers use the phrase “from a two-year-old to a great-grandfather” to describe the event's inclusive format, emphasizing local racing focused on participation, families, and community sport over an elite-only competition. The course follows roads between central Zabrze and the Biskupice district, with most categories completing 2.7 km laps. The youngest participants cycle 200 meters. Older children and adults complete one to three laps based on age. Licensed PZKol riders aged 11 to 14 compete in distinct categories. Helmets are mandatory, minors require parental or guardian consent, and all participants will receive a diploma. Fundacja Betlehem Dom Chleba, in conjunction with the Biskupice District Council, organizes the races, receiving support from the city, police, PZKol, local sports groups, parishes, sponsors, food vendors, and children’s entertainment providers.

About cycling & running in Zabrze

Zabrze Training Notes

Running: Locals run Zabrze like a dense city with useful pockets of green. Park im. Poległych Bohaterów works for daily running because its paths stay wide, lit, and mixed underfoot. Forest Park in Mikulczyce gives trail runners uneven natural ground and a varied profile. The Gliwicki Canal path carries a several-kilometer run through nature when base miles need quiet. Arena Zabrze stadium gives a clean spot for intervals and tempo work. Local club names include Górnik Zabrze, Gwarek Zabrze, Walka Zabrze, and MKS Zabrze-Kończyce. Independence Run, parkrun, themed runs, Pko Bytomski Polmaraton, and Bieg Charytatywny Św. keep the calendar honest.

Cycling: Locals ride with plenty of choice because Zabrze has 1,020 cycle routes. One route runs 6 km with 235 m up and 233 m down. Another route covers 7 km with 413 m of ascent. 6 km. Wolności 377 to Wolności 379 adds 306 m of ascent for harder Z2 or gran fondo prep. Zabrzańskie Szosowe Wyścigi Rowerowe Niezrzeszonych is the local anchor race.

Season: June, July, and September are the best months to train here. Most people cycle in Zabrze in June and July, so group rides and steady base miles feel natural then. September suits the bike calendar, with Zabrzańskie Szosowe Wyścigi Rowerowe Niezrzeszonych landing on the last Sunday of September in 2025. Late summer and early autumn also fit the race rhythm around Pko Bytomski Polmaraton. Winter changes the job for both sports. Locals keep running on Park im. Poległych Bohaterów, Arena Zabrze, and bigger neighborhood promenades because the lit routes matter, and cyclists lean into shorter loops when long road days lose their pull.
