About cycling & running in BridgeportBridgeport-Stamford-Danbury Training Notes
Running: Locals run this area by linking water, parks, and small neighborhood loops. Harbor Point works well when you want to park, run by the water, and roll over to Kosciuszko Park. Cove Island gives you the classic short lap, and the whole loop runs about 1.5 miles. Scalzi Park suits easy base miles when you do not mind a repetitive loop. Springdale gives you quiet neighborhoods with sidewalks. Mianus River Park and Revonah Woods handle trail days. Stampede meets Wednesdays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 9:00 am. Stamford Run Club meets Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. The Follow Natural Fitness Women's Health 5K and Run For The Rock sit on the local race list.
Cycling: Sound Cyclists Bicycle Club is the main riding name here. The club has been organized since 1977, and it puts on more than 1,300 organized rides and cycling activities each year. Sound Cyclists rides Fairfield County and nearby areas, with on-road and off-road options from beginner to expert. The Bloomin' Metric gives riders 15 to 60 miles, so it works for Z2, a faster group day, or gran fondo legs. Jennings Beach and Short Beach keep the coastal riding feel close. Bikes & Beers Stratford is the easy anchor event to point at. The only climb in the brief is one hill, so locals get repeats where they can.
Season: May, June, July, August, October, and November are the best months here. June gets busy with the Mini of Fairfield County triathlon and duathlon 2026, the HALF WAY TO ST. PATS DAY 5K, Athletic Brewing Company Fairfield Road Races, and Devil Dash 5k. July keeps the coastal vibe going with Surfin' Santa's Christmas In July 5k & Holiday Stroll and THE FAIRFIELD POLICE SUNSET 5K. August brings Shore 2 The Pour Beach Run 2026. Stampede adds Monday 6:30 pm runs during the Summer. November still has the 2026 Colony Grill 'Hot Oil' 5K, then locals lean harder on steady Z2, trails, and familiar loops.
