A Merry Christmas Run 5K/10K/13.1 LAS VEGAS

The Merry Christmas Run Las Vegas begins and ends at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign, positioning the race at a well-known city landmark. This holiday run offers 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances, along with a Family 1 Mile Fun Run for those seeking a shorter event. The run is designed for both runners and walkers, welcoming all paces, and allows minors to participate with a guardian. This is a private group run, not a large city event, and each wave has a limit, meaning registration may close once a wave is full. Timing is optional; there are no chips, and participants can record their own times using an app, submit them later, or receive assistance from organizers. A virtual option and a waitlist are available for those unable to join the in-person waves if they sell out. Additionally, an eco-friendly registration option without a shirt is offered for the main distances.

Thanksgiving Gobble Trot Run 5K/10K/13.1 LAS VEGAS

The Thanksgiving Turkey Gobble Trot in Las Vegas is an annual holiday run and walk designed to encourage activity before Thanksgiving dinner. It provides 5K, 10K, and 13.1-mile distances, allowing participants to select a short run or walk or a half marathon. The event is intended for families, friends, and local community groups, not exclusively serious racers. The listed location is in the Las Vegas 89119 area. The race uses Thanksgiving-themed language, promoting the concept of “wobbling before you gobble” and pre-meal calorie burning.

Run for Mental Health 5K/10K/13.1 LAS VEGAS

The Run for Mental Health 5K/10K/13.1 LAS VEGAS is a road run in Las Vegas offering 5K, 10K, and half-marathon distances, along with a 1-mile Family Fun Run. The organizer indicates the start and finish at the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign, though another listing suggests Sunset Park on East Sunset Road; participants should verify final race instructions. This event accommodates all paces and ages for running or walking, requiring a guardian for those under 18. This is not a chip-timed event; it is structured more like a supported group run than a competitive race. Waves have capacity limits and close upon filling, with a waitlist and virtual option available if in-person slots are full. The race focuses on mental health, encouraging participants to run in support of someone facing challenges and to help combat stigma. Registration offers an eco-friendly option excluding a shirt.

About cycling & running in Las Vegas, Nevada

Desert Miles, Real Climbs

Running: Locals run early, and the good stuff sits past the Strip. The Strip from the beginning to the Vegas sign gives about 10 miles, but running the Strip is more of an obstacle race. The loop is 51 km with 121 m of gain, and the UPRR trail from Pecos & Warm Springs gives a clean 10-mile out-and-back to Gibson. Las Vegas Runners brings beginners and advanced runners together in South Las Vegas. The St. Rose Parkway 1 mi loop starts at Desert Bloom Park. The St. Rose Parkway 1 mi loop starts at Desert Bloom Park. Run for Mental Health, 4th of July 5K Blast, and Lantern Semiquincentennial work as local anchor races.

Cycling: Locals ride because Vegas is a sleeper MTB city, and the city ends at the edge of the desert. Giant Las Vegas - Summerlin rolls a Saturday road ride at 7:00 AM for 25 miles at 13-16 mph. Giant Las Vegas - Mountains Edge runs a 7:00 AM Saturday road ride that covers 40-50 miles with about 2,500 feet of climbing. The Tuesday Night Ride meets at 7 PM in the Town of Blue Diamond and hits Cottonwood Valley trails under the stars. Red Rock Canyon, Bootleg Canyon, Old Spanish Trail, and fireroads handle singletrack, XC, gravity, and gravelish hardtail miles.

Season: Spring and fall are the best windows, so March-May and September-November carry the cleanest Z2, intervals, long runs, and base miles. Summer humidity sits around 56% and temperatures often push over 40°C. Locals ride at night or early morning, and runners do the same before the pavement starts cooking. Lee Canyon, Mt Charlie trails, Mt Charleston, and forest service trails above 7000 feet become the summer escape. Winter stays mild, with 7°C to 15°C days that keep road rides, trail runs, and steady blocks comfortable.
