Races that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly

The Run For Your Life 5k Series - The City Collapsed
SAT OCT 3
The Run For Your Life 5k Series - The City Collapsed is a 5k road race in Fairborn, Ohio, held on a fall Saturday with a zombie-apocalypse theme. Participants start as Survivors, wearing flag football belts. The race challenges runners not just to finish the distance, but also to protect their flags from being captured, which would mark them as infected. Zombies have a distinct role: they remain within designated infected zones rather than completing the full course. Their objective is to remove flags from approaching Survivors. This event is modest in scale, anticipating 1 to 100 participants. It emphasizes costumes, imaginative zombie makeup, speed, rapid decision-making, and composure under duress.
Harvest 5K
SAT OCT 3
LEAF/Longenecker Harvest Festival 5K. Run or walk the loop course down the rolling hills of St Rt 606. The first 100 registered receive a free T-shirt.
Walk, Run and Roll 5k
SAT OCT 3
The Walk, Run and Roll 5k takes place at Glacier Ridge Metro Park in Plain City, Ohio, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Packet pickup on race day is available at the park prior to the start. The Central Ohio Spina Bifida Alliance, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving over 50 counties, organizes the event. The race aims to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and support individuals and families impacted by it in Central Ohio. COSBA provides educational materials, social events, and financial aid through its initiatives. Therefore, the 5k functions as a community fundraiser alongside being a morning walk, run, or roll.
Operation Veteran and Caregiver Support 5k Hero Harvest Fun Run
SAT OCT 3
Hero Harvest is a 5k fun run in Piqua, Ohio, held in October at Lock 9 Park, following a Veteran Ceremony. The race is sponsored by Operation Veteran and Caregiver Support. Every entry fee supports its programs for veterans, military families, widows, and active duty service members from all branches. This event is for runners and walkers. Children have lower pricing. The race-day setup is straightforward: check in at Lock 9 Park, receive a race number, and finish with a snack. Participants who register early enough receive a shirt. Online registration is available through Can’t Stop Running Co.
Community Refugee & Immigration Services' 13th Annual 5K + Community-Wide Event
SAT OCT 3
Community Refugee & Immigration Services' 5K + Community-Wide Event begins at Genoa Park in downtown Columbus, with the in-person race starting at 10:00 AM. The program features a 5K run/walk, an untimed 1-mile walk, a kids fun run, and a virtual 5K option for those who wish to participate remotely. This event directly supports CRIS, an independent nonprofit assisting refugee and immigrant communities in Central Ohio. The event focuses on providing runners, walkers, children, and remote participants a unified way to support CRIS's mission. The organization aids refugees and immigrants in finding safety and stability, developing self-sufficiency, and integrating into Central Ohio. Its staff represent diverse global backgrounds and speak numerous languages.
Run Like a Girl 5K 10K 10-Mile
SUN OCT 4
Run Like a Girl is an all-women's running series in Westerville, Ohio, offering 5K, 10K, and 10-mile options on the same morning. The races begin between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., providing Central Ohio runners a choice of a short road race, a middle-distance effort, or a longer challenge. The field accommodates a wide range of runners, from first-timers and weekend participants to faster athletes seeking competition. Groups of four or more receive a per-person registration discount, aligning with the event's emphasis on friends registering together as well as individual runners testing their limits.
The Dupps Company 5k Run
SAT OCT 10
The Dupps Company 5k Glow Run/Walk starts and finishes at The Dupps Company on North Cherry Street in Germantown, Ohio. This $25 5k run/walk is a local morning event held around the start of the fall and holiday seasons. The setup is straightforward: packet pickup is before the race, the route returns to the company site, and children under 5 do not need to register. After the finish, participants can find food trucks, snacks, face painting, and extra shirts for sale. Race proceeds support Robyn’s Nest, which brings dogs to the event and shares information about its adoption process.

About 5K races in Springfield, Ohio

Springfield Miles And Trail Legs

Springfield, Ohio hosts 141 5K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Springfield runners get their easy miles on the paved trails through town, especially Buck Creek Trail, Little Miami Scenic Trail, Prairie Grass Trail, and Simon Kenton Trail. Locals add dirt at Buck Creek State Park, Buckhorn Trail, George Rogers Clark Park, Ferncliff Cemetery and Arboretum, and John Bryan State Park. Buckhorn Trail runs up the west side of Clarence J. Brown reservoir. George Rogers Clark Park has nice trails around the lake. ORRRC gives the race calendar some shape, with the ORRRC Turkey Hunt Map & Compass Challenge as the oddball anchor. River Ridge II 5k and World Race for Hope 5k keep it simple.

Springfield riders lean on the same paved spine, with Little Miami Scenic Trail, Buck Creek Trail, Prairie Grass Trail, and Simon Kenton Trail doing real base-mile work. Cyclotherapy gives locals a steady group ride scene, with Thursday rides at 6:15pm from Mother Stewart's Brewing and weekly rides from the shop. A riders get routes up to 39 miles with average speeds above 20 mph. B riders get routes up to 28 miles in the 16-18 mph range, and the B routes are no-drop. WOLF PACK adds another club name. Clifton Gorge and the rolling hills give the legs their climbing work.

Springfield works well when the trails are dry and group rides are running, and Cyclotherapy does monthly bikepacking trips from May through October. Locals use summer for Z2 on the rail-trails, intervals on the bike paths, and longer runs from the Mad River toward Buck Creek State Park. The ECO Sports Corridor Whitewater Park has four kayaking areas, so summer has that river-corridor energy even when you are just spinning or running. Winter changes the tools, not the habit. National Trail maintains nearly 20 miles of paved trails for cross-country skiing, and runners keep the paved network useful when dirt gets sloppy.
