Go Gray in May

Go Gray in May is a 5K walk/run in Fort Washington, Maryland, starting at 1771 Tucker Road in May with an early morning start. Participants are asked to wear gray, with the race color signifying Traumatic Brain Injury awareness, not just a fitness event. The day focuses on survivors, caregivers, and families affected by TBI. Registration fees support research, education, and community resources. The Go Gray in May initiative also addresses brain tumors, chronic headaches, and brain wellness. The event features vendor options including food trucks and community information tables.

Lucky Coin Multisport Youth Triathlon Series - Race One - Stratford

Lucky Coin’s Stratford race begins at the Stratford Recreation Association pool and parking lot in Alexandria, Virginia’s Mt. Vernon/Ft. Hunt area. This is Race One of a four-race summer youth triathlon series for athletes aged 6 to 15. Four age groups compete at each event, and a USA Triathlon youth membership is required for registration. The series aims to introduce young athletes to triathlon with short distances, a local setting, and a day focused on kids and families, not adult long-course ambitions. The Stratford course is fast and flat, featuring a pool swim followed by bike and run loops. Athletes aged 6 to 10 will swim 50 meters, bike 1.45 miles, and run 0.55 miles. Those aged 11 to 15 will swim 150 meters, bike 4.35 miles, and run 1.10 miles. The Stratford event marks the fourth annual Lucky Coin race. The series provides discounts for multiple race entries, including a package for all four races. Registering early ensures a race shirt. USAT youth rules mandate shoes, and the series relies on volunteers who need no prior triathlon experience. A unique aspect: athletes could be body-marked by an Ironman World Champion and world record holder.
