Cáceres is a hilltop medieval town in Extremadura where running means climbing into the sierra immediately. The XIX Media Maratón "Cáceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad" weaves through the old quarter and surrounding limestone terrain at roughly 450m elevation, while the Carrera por Montaña Corre con Nosotras tackles the steeper mountain routes that ring the town. Cyclists find serious technical work in the surrounding sierras with the Ruta Legends BTT and BTT Callejas de Torrejoncillo — both long XC courses through oak forest and rocky pitches that climb 600m+.
