Chestertown Challenge Half Marathon Run and 5K Run/Walk
DIM OCT 11
The Chestertown Challenge takes place on race morning at Wilmer Park in Chestertown, Maryland. A half marathon, a 5K run, and a 5K walk begin at 9 a.m. Packet pickup and race-day registration start at 8 a.m., accommodating both pre-registered participants and those signing up on the morning of the event. The race supports Kent Association of Riding Therapy, Inc., a nonprofit organization assisting children and adults with disabilities. KART’s services include therapeutic horseback riding, barn management, and horse care. The Silent Hero option allows individuals to contribute to the fundraising efforts without participating in the run or walk.
Monster Mash Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K
SAM OCT 17
Seawitch Racing Festival Weekend
SAM OCT 24
The Seawitch Racing Festival Weekend takes place in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in late October. The event features seaside road races starting in the city, with listed distances of a 5K and a half marathon. The half marathon is the most popular choice. The location is a key draw: participants run in a Delaware beach town, not a controlled stadium or isolated trail. The broader festival also includes walking, trail, marathon, nature, forest, and mountain events, indicating the series caters to diverse groups of runners.
6th Seawitch 1/2 Marathon Classic (seawitch Racing Festival Weekend)
SAM OCT 24
The Sea Witch 1/2 Marathon Classic is a fall race weekend held at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware, starting and finishing at 1 Bathhouse Drive. The primary event is a Saturday half marathon. Runners can also complete the Spooky Challenge by running the half marathon on Saturday and a 5K on Sunday. Both races begin at 8:00 a.m. The organizers describe the half marathon course as fast and flat. The weekend features two courses over two days, connecting Lewes with another Delaware coast town. The half marathon course also serves as a preview of the Rehoboth Seashore Marathon's Lewes section, making it suitable for runners seeking a tune-up race or those aiming for the Halloween-themed challenge. Tim Bamforth of Seashore Striders directs the event. He notes that shirts, medals, trophies, and safety staffing determine the budget. Despite price increases, he states the half marathon remains less expensive than other Delmarva half marathons.
Cape May Hallowed Half Marathon Weekend
SAM OCT 24
The Cape May Hallowed Half Marathon Weekend takes place on an October morning in Cape May, offering three race choices: a half marathon, a half marathon relay, and the Hallowed Half 5K. All three events commence at 7:30 AM, meaning the 5K, individual half marathoners, and relay participants share the same early start. The half marathon includes strict time limits: participants must reach the halfway point in 1 hour and 45 minutes and complete the race within 3 hours and 30 minutes, corresponding to a 16:01 per mile pace. Athlete check-in is located at the rear parking lot of LaMer Beachfront Resort. Free on-street parking is accessible. The event incorporates a Halloween theme, culminating in a post-race Halloween awards party. Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female runners, masters runners, age group finishers (from 19 and under to 70 and over), and the leading relay teams. All participants receive a long-sleeve race shirt, and all finishers are presented with a medal.
Hot Mess Trail Races
SAM OCT 24
Hot Mess Trail Races guides runners through Parvin State Park in Pittsgrove, New Jersey, starting and finishing at the Danna Farm Fields. The autumn event provides two options: a half marathon and a 6-hour ultra. Both races utilize mostly flat, fast trail loops with a short section of pavement. The event begins in the morning and concludes in the early afternoon, positioning the 6-hour option as a timed challenge rather than a set-distance competition. The course consists of approximately 95% trail, featuring winding single-track, sandy areas, and roots, yet the overall design accommodates beginners. Half marathon participants depart from the fields, complete two full circuits of the lollipop-shaped course, and access aid stations near miles 3.5 and 8.5. The 6-hour runners traverse a loop of about 4 miles repeatedly, returning to the start/finish area each lap for the sole aid station. This race is a South Jersey partnership with Second Capital Running, and all participants who finish will be awarded a medal and unique merchandise.
Historic Drawbridge Running Festival
SAM OCT 31
The Historic Drawbridge Running Festival takes runners over and alongside Talbot County’s historic drawbridges on a fast waterfront route. The event typically provides a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and Kids Dash, suitable for walkers, families, first-timers, and runners seeking a longer challenge. The organization is practical: chip timing, marked turns, staffed aid stations, posted course maps, elevation profiles, and pace limits inform participants before race day. The courses trace the county’s working waterways, featuring flat sections, coastal breezes, harbors, marsh views, historic neighborhoods, boats, and potential wildlife. Local authorities manage bridge operations and traffic control, important as the route uses active drawbridges. Many editions include finisher medals, race shirts, age-group awards, race photos, real-time results, post-race refreshments, and sometimes a shakeout run or course talk before the main events.
5-Mile Beach at Wildwood Crest
SAM OCT 31
5-Mile Beach at Wildwood Crest starts at sunrise by Rambler Park and Wildwood Crest Beach on the New Jersey shore. The race series gives runners several choices on the same morning: a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a combo for people who want to run both the 5K and 10K. The setup is friendly to walkers and families, and registration includes a non-binary option with its own overall and age-group awards. The course is fast and flat, using the Wildwood boardwalk and roads through Wildwood, North Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest. Ocean views are part of the run, with water and Gatorade stops about every two miles. Everyone gets a finisher medal, first-time half marathon finishers can pick up a special plaque from race director Mark Hughes, and the finish area includes food, drink, T-shirts, and the organizer’s usual race swag.
5-Mile Beach at Wildwood Crest: Half Marathon, 10K and 5K
SAM NOV 7
The 5-Mile Beach at Wildwood Crest begins at sunrise near Rambler Park and the Wildwood Crest Beach, with the Boardwalk influencing the early atmosphere. This New Jersey shore race features a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a combined 5K/10K option. The course is fast and flat, suitable for new runners, walkers, families, and those seeking a consistent pace with minimal elevation gain. The route travels through Wildwood, North Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest, connecting the shore towns rather than repeating a small loop. Aid stations offering water and Gatorade are positioned approximately every two miles. All finishers will receive a medal. First-time half marathon finishers also receive a plaque. Race director Mark Hughes can be found at the finish line. The event offers non-binary registration, with awards for overall and age groups, post-race refreshments, and a T-shirt included with registration.
Coastal Delaware Running Festival
SAM AVR 10
The Coastal Delaware Running Festival starts and finishes on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, with a race weekend centered on flat, fast routes along the Delaware coast. Runners can select a full marathon, half marathon, 9K run/walk, Saturday 5K run/walk, or challenge runs. The full marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier for runners age 16 and up. The courses incorporate coastal Delaware landmarks, Delaware State Park paths, and historic Lewes, making the event more than a simple road race by the beach. Participants may include marathoners seeking a qualifier, half-marathon runners, walkers, 5K participants, and individuals completing multiple races via the challenge format. Following the finish, the event features a boardwalk gathering with complimentary beer, food, music, and cheering. Proceeds benefit the Delaware Seashore Preservation Foundation and other local charities.
Delaware Running Festival
DIM AVR 18
The Delaware Running Festival includes four races at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park in Wilmington: a marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K. This spring event is designed for many types of runners, with the shorter races offering the same atmosphere as the marathon and half. The marathon route covers downtown Wilmington, the riverfront, and the Jack Markell Trail. It is noted as challenging yet Boston-qualifying, and the half marathon follows the initial 13 miles of the marathon course. The 10K and 5K take place on the same day, with post-race activities returning to the park.
