Altitoy Millet is a two-day ski mountaineering race held in Luz-Saint-Sauveur, Hautes-Pyrénées, on the French Pyrenees side. It takes place in the Pays Toy on the slopes near Grand Tourmalet-Pic du Midi and Luz Ardiden. Teams of two select from several routes: the main A course covers 25 km with 2,500 m elevation gain, the B course is 12 km with 1,200 m gain, and a 10 km route is available for juniors. Entry numbers are capped, youth categories are present, and participants must carry a mandatory backpack.
The race originated from a Franco-Basque friendship initiative and is associated with the Fédération Française de Montagne et d’Escalade. The CVCE club of San Sebastian has supported the event for over ten years, and more than 200 volunteers assist in its operation. The A course is part of the Grande Course World Series and the French senior team championship, attracting top international ski mountaineers to the front of the field. Snow conditions are a significant factor; organizers have canceled editions due to unsafe or unsuitable mountain snowpack.
