St Olavsloppet is a three-day team relay covering 335 km between Trondheim, Norway, and Östersund, Sweden. Held in late June, teams compete in different classes, not as solo runners. The format requires each team to complete a long point-to-point journey in stages, emphasizing handovers, support crews, and planning alongside running speed.
The route divides into three main days: Trondheim to Stiklestad, Stiklestad to Åre, and Åre to Östersund, with the first day approximately 120 km. Some editions use alternative start or finish points like Stjørdal, Sandvika, Åre, or Mörsil. The race was reduced from four to three competition days following participant requests for a more compact format. Organizers have also addressed practical issues with mobile coverage and internet access along the route. Finishers and participants receive diplomas, raffle prizes, and the Mini-Olav medal.
