Run Greece Alexandroupoli
Run Greece Alexandroupoli takes place in September as part of the national Run Greece series, organized by SEGAS, the Hellenic Athletics Federation. The day features accessible city races: a 10km road race, a 5km road race and power walk, a 1,000m children’s race, and a 600m family run. The 10km begins on Megalou Alexandrou Street, directly before the Lighthouse, and concludes at the same location, establishing a clear landmark at the event's core. The Lighthouse area also serves as the finish for the children’s race, which begins at the Evros Regional Unit Building on Karaoli & Dimitriou Street. Participants collect their race numbers and kits at the Alexandroupolis Prefecture Building. Each race number has an embedded timing chip; the kit also contains safety pins and a bag sticker. Run Greece was established to promote organized road running across multiple cities, and the Alexandroupoli event adheres to this structure: timed races for regular runners, a shorter power-walk option, and separate events for children and families, all connected to a visible public square by the seafront.
