The Bergwitztriathlon, held for over 30 years, concludes on Strandweg in Bergwitz, a lakeside area of Kemberg, Saxony-Anhalt. This local event offers flat swimming, cycling, and running races for adults, youth, and children. TriathlonFreunde Wittenberg e.V. organizes the event according to German Triathlon Union regulations. The schedule features individual races, relays, Jedermann entries, age-group categories, and a Landesliga race, ensuring a diverse participant field beyond just specialists.
The adult Jedermann race presents a short, accessible format: 500 m swimming, 23 km cycling, and 5 km running, open to participants aged 16 and up. Younger athletes have their own race formats, including BergKIDS (200 m swim, 5 km bike, 1 km run) and Bambini (50 m swim, 1.2 km bike, 200 m run). The course has its flatness, lacking significant inclines, and remains situated near water, ponds, and natural landscapes instead of urban roads. Results are recorded using chip timing, and participation is capped by limited starting slots.
