Roter-Sand-Trail is a six-hour loop run held at the red clay tennis courts of TC Harthausen in Harthausen, Germany. Participants can begin at 9 AM and finish whenever they choose, taking extended breaks or continuing laps until the six-hour duration concludes. The structure is intentionally flexible: a single lap, multiple laps, a marathon-distance attempt, a charitable run, or a full six-hour endurance effort all align with the event's guiding principle, “Do what you want.”
The loop measures approximately 3.5 km through the woods near Harthausen, crossing forest paths, open fields, and singletrack trails, with minimal elevation gain of about 10 meters per lap. Every circuit concludes at the tennis club, serving as the checkpoint for lap counts and the aid station location. This setup fosters an atmosphere akin to a small club event rather than a traditional ultra-marathon. The course accommodates walkers, joggers, club athletes, and those aiming for personal distance bests, with funds raised contributing to the club's youth programs.
