Finlandia Marathon
The Finlandia Marathon is a road race in Jyväskylä, Central Finland, taking place annually on the second Saturday of September. Participants can select the full marathon, half marathon, a 10 km Rantaraitti loop, and in some listings a 5 km race, accommodating both marathoners and shorter-distance runners. The course follows Jyväskylä’s Rantaraitti, a lakeside path recognized by Finnish municipal and road authorities as Finland’s most scenic. The marathon course consists of one 42.195 km loop around Jyväsjärvi. The half marathon is a single 21.0975 km loop, beginning at Pohjanlahdentie. This route places runners near the water in a city also situated by Lake Päijänne. The Alvar Aalto Museum is nearby for those staying after the event. Competitors are divided into open categories for men and women, with age groups starting from 40 and progressing in five-year increments. Keski-Suomen Liikunta and Jyväskylän Kenttäurheilijat organize the event.
