Ainos Mountain Marathon 2026

The Ainos Mountain Marathon is a September trail race held in Pyrgi, Kefalonia. Runners begin from Pyrgi Square at 10:00. The 12 km course follows Mount Ainos trails, featuring 380 metres of elevation gain. This is a compact mountain event, distinct from typical city marathons. The race is organised by the Cultural Association of Pyrgi "The Pyrgi", with support from local and regional entities. These include the Ionian Islands Region, the Municipality of Sami, the Pyrgi Community, O.FY.KE.PA, and the Argostoli Tourism Committee. An Ainos Half Marathon is also part of the event. Its origins are local, with the village association directing the race, public bodies providing assistance, and the course utilizing the mountain above Kefalonia instead of a closed urban circuit.
