Darlington Harriers Monthly Mile May
The Darlington Harriers' Monthly Mile is a low-cost, one-mile road race series held in Darlington's South Park, with a May race as part of its regular schedule. Open to runners aged 8 and up, it accommodates juniors, club runners, newcomers, and adults seeking a fast mile. Runners can register for the entire series or individual races, with on-the-night cash entries available. The course is a certified, single lap on gently rolling, traffic-free tarmac paths within the park. Results are submitted to Power of 10, and the races adhere to UKA competition rules, ensuring performances are officially recorded for athletes tracking rankings. The series awards are based on age grading percentages, not finishing order: the top 10 average age grade scores receive prizes. Participants must complete at least three races to qualify, with their best three scores counting. The final race is free for series entrants and concludes with an awards presentation. The host club, Darlington Harriers, established in 1891, offers junior groups from age 8 and senior coaching in running and athletics.
