23rd Annual Mariners Bethel 6.2m & 3.1m Trail Run, 1, 2, or 3 mile walk, Kiddie Color Run

The Mariners Bethel Trail Run begins and ends at Camp Barnes in Frankford, Delaware. It features a 6.2-mile trail run, a 3.1-mile trail run, walking options of 1, 2, or 3 miles, and a Kiddie Color Run for children 12 and under. The races and walks take place in the fall. The kids’ run starts just before the main run and walk. Seashore Striders and Mariners Bethel organize the event, which is designed for families and runners alike. The course is flat and fast, utilizing cross-country roads and trails within the Assawoman Wildlife Refuge before returning to Camp Barnes. Participants can select the longer 10K-style trail distance or the shorter 5K-style route. Walkers have shorter options to ensure accessibility. This race has a history spanning over two decades. Its church origins are evident in the post-race lunch, music, activities, and emphasis on faith, fellowship, and outdoor time. Proceeds benefit Mariners Bethel’s children and youth ministries, and lunch tickets are complimentary for children 12 and under.
5-Mile Beach at Wildwood Crest

The Delaware Running Festival includes four races at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park in Wilmington: a marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K. The marathon route covers downtown Wilmington, the riverfront, and the Jack Markell Trail. ドーバーでのトレーニングあれこれ

ドーバー, DEでは、2026年に市中心部から80 km以内で11件の10Kレースが開催されます。今後の日程、定期シリーズ、近隣のその他のレースをまとめて確認できます。

ドーバーで走るなら、定番のコースはこんな感じだよ。Silver Lake Parkは軽い周回にぴったりだし、Schutte Parkはクロスカントリーっぽい足慣らしにいいよね。脚がZ2で一定に動きたい時は、St. Jones GreenwayかCapital City Trailがいいかな。Brecknock Parkは友達と待ち合わせるのにちょうどいい場所で、そこの周回コースは3 milesくらいあるから、そこから距離を伸ばしていく感じ。ランナーはBrecknockからPOW/MIA、Hazlettville Road、Wyoming Mill、Wyoming Mill Spurを通って7-mileのルートを作るんだ。Seashore Stridersっていうクラブがあるし、The American Legion First State 5k / 1 Mile walk、Nurse on the Run 5K、Monster Mash Marathon, Half Marathon, 5Kみたいなレースも結構あるから、年間を通して飽きないよ。

ドーバーでのライドは、自慢できるようなライドっていうよりは、base milesを稼ぐためって感じかな。White Clay Bicycle Clubが地域のサイクリングシーンを繋いでくれてるね。Amish Country Bike Tourは、ドーバーのLegislative Mall発着だから、メインイベントになってるよ。16, 25, 50, 62, 100 milesから選べるんだけど、Rose Valley RoadにあるAmish School Houseでパイが食べられる、平坦なアーミッシュの田園地帯を走るルートが多いよ。ドーバーには本格的な上り坂がないから、みんな風とかケイデンス、あとは長い一定のブロック走でインターバル練をしてるんだ。ロードシーンはgran fondoの準備とか、critの脚作り、singletrackがメインじゃない時のcyclocrossのフィットネス維持には向いてるね。

ドーバーでは、春と秋がランニングもライドも一番気持ちよくトレーニングできる時期だね。湿気が多くなる前に、みんな長距離ランとかZ2ライド、レースに向けたビルドアップをこの時期にやってるよ。夏は気温が20°Cから32°Cまで上がるから、ランナーもライダーも早めに出発するし、短時間だけど激しい雷雨には気をつけてるね。冬の最低気温は8°Cくらいまで下がるけど、雪は年間平均10 inchesくらいで、積もってもすぐ溶けちゃう感じ。
