SÁB OUT 17
The Tsunoshima Sunset Marathon takes place in October in Toyotomi, Shimonoseki, located on the northwest coast of Yamaguchi Prefecture. Its defining feature is that runners cross Tsunoshima Bridge, the lengthy span over the blue water connecting the mainland to Tsunoshima Island. The event offers a 10 km race as its longest distance, with 5 km options available for individuals and pairs. The participant limit is around 1,200, giving it the feel of a local coastal event rather than a large urban race. The course covers the Kanda and Tsunoshima areas, with the former Shimonoseki Municipal Tsunoshima Elementary School serving as the base for reception and ceremonies. The race starts late, allowing participants to finish and then observe the sunset over the Sea of Japan from Tsunoshima. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with the 10 km individual race being the most popular category, followed by the 5 km individual and pair races.
Fukuoka Marathon
DOM NOV 8
The Fukuoka Marathon is an international men's road race held annually in early December in Fukuoka, Japan, with roots tracing back to 1947. Originally named the Kanaguri Prize Asahi Marathon and first held in Kumamoto, the event found its permanent home in Fukuoka starting in 1959. The current race upholds the legacy of the Fukuoka International Marathon, which, despite a temporary halt after its 75th running, was continued by a successor event that preserved its course and history. The marathon has consistently drawn elite marathoners, not just local participants. International athletes were first welcomed in 1954, and the course has since witnessed a world record. Tsegaye Kebede holds the course record at 2:05:18, and Toshihiko Seko and Frank Shorter are tied for the most wins with four each. A notable local marker is found at Hakata Station: a Fukuoka Marathon monument displays the footprints of previous champions.
DOM DEZ 13
The Hakata Bay Evening Sky Scenery Marathon is an afternoon running event at Marina Town Seaside Park in Fukuoka’s Nishi Ward, centered on running beside the bay as the evening sky arrives. It features individual 20 km, 10 km, and 5 km races, along with a 20 km team relay, all utilizing a 2.5 km loop course. Individual participants must be at least 15 years old, and relay teams can consist of 4 to 8 members. The event maintains a small, local scale: each individual distance is limited to 100 runners, and the relay is capped at 30 teams. The 20 km race has a 140-minute time limit, the 10 km race has 80 minutes, and the 5 km race has 40 minutes, making it suitable for runners who prefer a steady pace over a casual fun run. In the relay, teams exchange a timing chip at designated points, with individual runners completing one or more laps before handing over. Feedback from similar events by the same organizer indicates a course that can be technical, with park visitors, vehicles, and navigation presenting challenges, and aid stations might be basic.

Fukuoka Training Notes

Kitakyushu Cycling Day é o evento principal.
