Marathon van Vlaardingen

The Marathon van Vlaardingen is an annual road race in Vlaardingen, South Holland, typically held in late May. Starting from the grounds of sc Victoria, the event features a full marathon alongside shorter distances: a half marathon, quarter marathon, 10.5 km, a 5 km walk/run, and a 1 km family/kids' run. This is a paved race, not a trail event, with electronic timing by ChronoRace and group registration for teams of ten or more. The marathon route covers 42 kilometers through the Broekpolder, with broader descriptions including Vlaardingen's historic center, residential streets, parks, and notable areas. The participants are largely local, with many Vlaardingers attending at Sportclub Victoria, though the race also attracts beginners, experienced marathoners, and runners from other parts of the Netherlands and abroad. The family run includes a small ceremony where each 1 km participant is honored with a gift, while longer races have separate award ceremonies later.
