One 7 km loop on the N70 Trail includes approximately 225 meters of climbing, leading runners to refer to this part of Gelderland as the “Dutch Alps.” The race takes place near Nijmegen, utilizing the N70 nature route surrounding Beek-Ubbergen, with available distances of 7 km, 14 km, and 21 km. It is set for a late-summer Sunday, functioning as a short, intense trail race instead of a flat road event. Roughly 85% of the course is trail, and participants encounter two aid stations per 7 km lap.
The route follows the N70 hiking path, a trail established to honor nature conservation and highlighted by the organizers as one of the Netherlands' oldest and most scenic routes. It crosses rolling glacial hills, dense woodland, historic pathways, and narrow singletrack, featuring continuous ascents and swift descents. The 21 km distance is intended for seasoned trail runners because of the cumulative elevation gain, challenging terrain, and potential for mud across three laps. The event maintains a modest scale, attracting a congenial trail-running community with volunteers positioned near the course.
