The Brandefant Triathlon Race begins high in the Norwegian mountains at Imingfjell, near Uvdal and the edge of Hardangervidda. It is an Olympic-plus distance triathlon for amateurs, covering 1,500 meters of swimming, 40 km of cycling, and 12.5 km of running for a total of 55 km. The race is open to women and men over 18. Organizers target everyday athletes seeking a demanding mountain challenge over a typical city triathlon.
The swim takes place in Sønstevatn, a mountain lake situated at 1,060 meters above sea level. The cycling portion follows gravel roads into Imingdalen. The final run utilizes gravel and trail paths through mountainous terrain, ascending to 1,370 meters before concluding on Glopphovda at 1,185 meters, near Imingfjell Turistheim. Throughout the event, participants will climb over 1,000 meters. A relay option, Følgestafett, is available for friends or colleagues wishing to share the race. The day typically concludes at Imingfjell Turistheim with a banquet and live music.
