Padova sits on the Veneto plain where cycling dominates—the Euganega 120km ride heads south into the Colli Euganei, a cluster of volcanic hills rising 400m above the flatlands and offering the region's best climbing within 30km. The city itself is dead flat for running, with parkrun-style loops around the Prato della Valle, but trail runners and mountain bikers reach the Monselice hills easily for the Monselice In Rosa MTB race and steeper terrain. Serious cyclists target the Granfondo della Spaccapria, a 294km epic that loops through the pre-Alps, or stick to the Prato della Valle and Brenta riverbank for flat speed work.
