Cyclists gravitate east toward the foothills of the Appalachian plateau, where gravel and dirt roads around Atwood Lake (roughly 20km away) and the Camp Tuscazoar Reign of Pain offer climbing and technical terrain that breaks the regional flatness. The region sits at about 250m elevation and drains toward the Mahoning River valley; serious hill work requires heading 40km north to the Lake Milton riding around the NOMBS event.
