About this race
At the Alice Springs Aquatic Centre, the pool racing takes place in the "heart of Central Australia," under clear desert skies with an open-air atmosphere absent from indoor meets. The Alice Springs Masters Games, now in its 19th edition, brings the relaxed, social character of "Australia's longest-running Masters Games" to a multi-sport week with numerous activities beyond the pool.
The swimming events are held in an outdoor pool offering "excellent competition conditions." Competitions include the four strokes, individual medley, and relays, allowing participants to choose their preferred event or join a team for relay races. It attracts swimmers aged 25 and over across various age divisions. Beginners are welcome without qualifying times, contributing to a friendly masters atmosphere rather than an exclusive championship. The unique aspect is the setting itself: a "unique racing environment" where the dry Central Australian light alters the feel of even strenuous training.
