2026 Australian Athletics Marathon Race Walking Championships

The Australian Athletics Marathon Race Walking Championships are a long-distance race walking event held at Stromlo Forest Park in Canberra. Scheduled for June, it is part of the Race Walk Australia Lake Burley Griffin Walking Carnival. This main championship runs concurrently with the Queensland Championship and the Capital Athletics Road Walking Championships, structuring the day around race walking rather than a single event. Stromlo Forest Park provides a dedicated outdoor venue, differing from a city road start-and-finish. Races of 5km and longer are eligible for World Athletics rankings and can serve as qualification for the Australian Athletics Championships. The program includes races for younger age groups, from U10 to U16, alongside Masters and fitness walks. The ACT Race & Fitness Walking Club organizes the carnival, which has a history of many editions under the Lake Burley Griffin name.
