Point to Pinnacle & Point to Pub
About this race
Point to Pinnacle begins at Wrest Point Car Park in Hobart, alongside the River Derwent, ascending Mount Wellington. The primary event is a 21.1 km road half marathon featuring 1,271 metres of elevation gain, earning it the moniker "World's Toughest Road Half Marathon". The same day hosts Point to Pub, a 10 km road run from Wrest Point to the Fern Tree Tavern, gaining 426 metres on its uphill course. Walkers start at 7:00 am, runners at 8:00 am, with cut-off times enforced because of the challenging climb.
Both routes commence on Sandy Bay Road, proceed through Byron Street and Davey Street, then ascend from the city as Davey Street transitions to Huon Road. Point to Pinnacle diverts onto Pillinger Drive for the final ascent to the summit. Point to Pub concludes earlier at Fern Tree, offering a shuttle service post-finish window. The half marathon has an entry limit of 3,200 participants, and the 10 km caps at 1,600, ensuring a managed field on the mountain roads. Point to Pub accommodates younger runners and those with prams, fostering a wider community atmosphere for the shorter race compared to the more demanding summit event.
