About this race
Recreation Grounds North sets the tone: mountain-park air, a big local field, and a race tradition that has been rolling since 1979. Race 19 has the feel of a community fixture rather than a slick production, with runners and walkers turning up for a "colourful display of sport and fun" in and around Banff National Park.
The routes are billed as good, but the real pull is the race-day atmosphere: "entertainment along the course," a "contagious spirit," and a "post-run party" waiting after the finish. The long-sleeved commemorative running shirt featuring local art is the kind of detail runners actually remember, and the Day Care Society of Banff connection gives the whole thing a grounded local purpose.
