The Sprint Series Adventure Race at Lysterfield is a 4-hour team event held in Lysterfield Park, located approximately 40 minutes from Melbourne. Teams of two navigate using a map to locate checkpoints. Participants can choose between Classic and Novice categories, which combine paddling, mountain biking, and running or walking. The Duathlon option excludes the kayak, focusing solely on running and biking. This race accommodates various fitness levels, and children can participate with an adult.
Lysterfield Park provides the race with natural outdoor terrain, including Commonwealth Games tracks, mountain bike trails, walking paths, and Lysterfield Lake for the paddling segment. The course details remain undisclosed until race morning when teams are issued their maps, emphasizing the importance of navigation alongside speed. Classic teams will cover approximately 5-7 km on foot, 15 km by mountain bike, and 5 km by kayak. Novice teams will have shorter distances, while Duathlon teams will run 5-7 km and cycle 15 km. Kayaks, paddles, and PFDs are provided. Mountain bike rentals are available, and training sessions for navigation and kayaking are offered prior to the race.
