Stromlo Forest Park hosts the Top Dog 24 Adventure Race, a "classic non-stop 24hr adventure race." It centers on trekking, mountain biking, and kayaking, with additional elements determined by the course setters within the Australian Capital Territory’s “stunning wilderness.” This event emphasizes serious team racing, with participants competing in pairs or fours using map and compass on an unmarked route. The terrain offers enough variety to challenge fast teams while providing a suitable entry point for determined first-timers via Little Dog. The route is disclosed only hours before the start, requiring participants to engage in rapid map work and make crucial decisions about pace, rest, and acceptable errors. The race features an “epic unmarked course” with challenging trail, off-road, and water sections, utilizing a different area each year. Elite adventure racers compete as it's an ARWS Oceania Series qualifier, alongside teams new to 24-hour racing seeking the “ultimate test of navigation, endurance, and teamwork.”
