About this race
The Women Only Adventure Race in Canberra is a four-hour team event for pairs. Participants navigate between checkpoints using foot, mountain bike, and kayak. It is designed for both beginners and experienced racers, welcoming all fitness levels. Younger participants may join when accompanied by an adult. Entry covers maps, timing, water safety, and kayaking equipment; teams must provide their own mountain bike gear or arrange rentals. Multiple start times are scheduled throughout the morning, and all finishers receive a medal.
The course details are not revealed until race morning, when teams receive their maps to plan their route to the checkpoints. The distances are set to be manageable yet offer a genuine adventure race feel: approximately 5-6 km of running or walking, 10-12 km by mountain bike, and 3 km by kayak. The race utilizes Canberra's network of paths, bike tracks, and waterways, blending urban accessibility with natural landscapes. A post-race fruit gathering provides a relaxed social conclusion after the navigation and physical challenges.
