La Transmontagne begins in Chenôve, near Dijon in France's Côte-d'Or. Runners are quickly directed from the town into the woods and nature trails of Burgundy. This trail race offers two marked distances: 14.5 km for a shorter run on the paths, and 29 km for a more demanding outing with significant climbing in the Monts de Bourgogne. The event is a long-standing local tradition, currently paused but scheduled for a future return.
Both courses traverse sections of the Combe Lavaux-Jean nature reserve, emphasizing forest tracks, natural terrain, and elevation over urban running. Aid stations are positioned along the routes, and complimentary shuttles from Chenôve simplify participant logistics. The longer course presents a challenging option for those aiming to test their endurance on Burgundy's terrain, while the shorter course provides a similar natural setting without the full distance commitment.
