Trail de Mouge begins at the Stade de la Lie in Senozan, a Saône-et-Loire village, early in the trail-running season. This nature-running event offers three distances: 10.5 km, 17 km, or 25 km. The courses are designed to be accessible, not extreme, yet they feature elevation gain: approximately 200 m for the 10.5 km, 360 m for the 17 km, and 600 m for the 25 km.
Most of the running takes place off-road, with 80 to 90 percent of the routes on forest tracks and trails. Approximately 300 runners participate across the three distances, with some using the event as an early-season test following winter training. Local leadership for the race comes from the firefighters and the school support association, in collaboration with the municipality. Previous editions have encountered mist and muddy conditions. Group registration for three or more people is an option, and on-site parking and showers are provided.
