Recurring Marathon races near Ulm

Races that repeat — weekly, monthly or yearly

Hardy's Stadtlauf Landsberg am Lech
SAT OCT 3
Hardy's Stadtlauf Landsberg am Lech is a road running event in Landsberg am Lech, Bavaria, focusing on Hauptplatz and the old town by the Lech river. It takes place in early October, featuring a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, Nordic walking, and shorter races for children and youth. The children's race is 800 meters, the youth race is 2 km, and the main races begin at midday. Hardy's Landsberg Freizeit & Event GmbH organizes the event, which caters to families and dedicated runners alike. The course consists of a 5 km loop set against the old town. The 10 km race involves two laps, and the half marathon requires four laps, with the initial lap measuring 6.1 km. Team competitions are available for groups of at least five participants running the same distance under a unified team name, allowing friends, clubs, companies, and families to compete together. Locally promoted as “Running on the Lech,” the event is now in its nineteenth year.
9. Biberacher Genießerlauf
SUN OCT 18
The Biberacher Genießerlauf begins and ends on Biberach’s historic market square in Upper Swabia. The October race program includes a half marathon, a two-person 2 x 8 km relay, and a roughly 6 km walking or Nordic walking route. The event emphasizes the “Genuss” (enjoyment) in its name: runners receive strong course support, good food and drink along the way and at the finish, and a glass of sparkling wine after crossing the line. The surfaces combine asphalt with firm forest and field paths, creating a town-and-countryside feel rather than a pure road run. The half marathon starts flat at about 530 m above sea level. It begins climbing around the fifth kilometer, reaching its high point of about 630 m near km 13.5, with views toward the Allgäu. The route then drops into Ingoldingen and returns mostly downhill or flat after a final climb. The relay departs the half marathon route at the end of the Wolfental, a green water-protection area west of the city. It returns to Biberach after a short rise and gentle descent; the handover in the city center provides a more social atmosphere for friends, clubs, and company teams. Walkers follow a separate, calmer route through the Wolfental, with or without poles, and Nordic walking is fully integrated into the program.
36. Sparkassen Alb Marathon Schwäbisch Gmünd
SAT OCT 24
The Sparkassen Alb Marathon takes place around Schwäbisch Gmünd in the Swabian Jura, offering races from 5 km up to a new 60 km ultra. Held in October for its 36th edition, the event caters to children, walkers, beginners, club runners, and endurance athletes seeking a long run on hilly terrain. The new Alb Ultra begins in Essingen and passes through Heubach, the Furtlepass, and Waldstetten before concluding in Schwäbisch Gmünd, featuring approximately 2,000 meters of elevation gain. The 25 km race now starts at Burg Hohenrechberg and incorporates sections of the traditional Alb Marathon course. The 50 km Sparkassen-Lauf, 37 km Alb Trail, relay, 10 km Lauf & Walk, 5 km Challenge, and children’s race maintain the event's variety. The courses traverse the three Kaiserberge mountains. The organizer introduced the ultra distance in response to increased runner demand for more challenging trail and ultra options.

About Marathon races in Ulm

Ulm Training Notes

Ulm hosts 6 Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run the Danube first, then drift into Friedrichsau park when they want softer Z2 and no fuss. Beer Runner meets every Thursday at 18:30 at Bistro Ulmerufer, and the Beer Run route runs 7.5 kilometers along the Danube. Run Club Ulm meets every Wednesday at 19:00 at the Donauwiese in front of the Metzgerturm, and the Run Club route gives you 6 kilometers along the Danube. Donaurunning uses 5 kilometers through Friedrichsau and along the Danube. Park Run starts every Saturday at 9:00 in Friedrichsau. Einstein-Marathon and Die kleine Laufnacht Ulm sit as the anchor races.

Locals ride from the city because Ulm is a real route hub, not just a stop on a map. StadtRad-Route gives you 12 kilometers on green signs through both cities, parks, squares, Friedrichsau, and the Danube. Danube Cycle Path rolls about 600 kilometers through Ulm and Neu-Ulm, and the Danube-Lake Constance cycle path runs 156 kilometers from Ulm to Lake Constance. Iller cycle path adds 146 kilometers from the mouth of the Iller toward its source. SSV Ulm 1846, Ratiopharm Ulm, TSG Söflingen, ESC Ulm, and Post SV Ulm e.V. keep the club scene visible. The Swabian Alb holds the climbs north of town.

May to August work best when locals want base miles, long rides, and steady running weeks. Summer reaches about 25°C, so the Danube, Friedrichsau, and early starts carry a lot of the training. May to August also bring the wettest stretch, but the city still rides well because the river routes stay simple and connected. Winter drops toward -2°C, and runners lean harder on Friedrichsau, the Danube paths, and club runs. Cyclists keep flatter Z2 on the Danube or Iller when the hills feel sharp, while the forests and hills east and west still suit tougher days, cyclocross moods, and singletrack legs.
