The BorsodChem Bódva-völgyi Maraton takes place on a Saturday at Edelényi Kastélysziget in Edelény. Running distances range from approximately 1 km for children to 5 km, a half marathon, and a full marathon. The marathon and half marathon distances are certified by the Hungarian Athletics Association. The entire running course is on asphalt, and the marathon has a 6-hour time limit. The event limits participation to 300 total entries. The event also features cycling tours: the 25 km Hangács-kör and the 84 km Aggtelek-kör. Both cycling and running races are part of the Ötpróba points system. Runners receive chip timing, a personalized bib, refreshments, and a unique finisher medal. Children receive a medal and basic refreshments. The organizers, Edelényi Futók Egyesülete, note it as a traditional point-to-point race, which is becoming uncommon. Participants also receive half-price entry to the castle's permanent exhibition.
