About this race
The BorsodChem Bódva Valley Marathon begins and ends at Edelényi Kastélysziget in Edelény. The main races commence at 10:00 AM, with a children’s run following shortly after. This is a modest road race limited to 300 participants, offering a marathon, half marathon, 5 km race, and an approximate 1 km children’s race. The marathon and half marathon courses are certified by the Hungarian Athletics Association, and the marathon has a 6-hour time limit. All participants race on asphalt, receiving personalized bibs, chip timing, and refreshments at the finish line.
The Edelény Runners Association organizes this event, noting it as a traditional point-to-point style race, despite the event headquarters being at the castle island. The program also features two self-supported cycling tours: a 25 km Hangács loop and an 84 km Aggtelek loop, which crosses villages and the Aggtelek National Park. Finishers are awarded a unique medal. Children do not have a formal awards ceremony, as all participants are winners. Adult entrants also receive a 50% discount for the castle’s permanent exhibition.
