DrammEnduro

DrammEnduro is a June enduro mountain bike race held at Drammen skisenter in Drammensdalen, Norway. It is organized by riders from Aron Sportsklubb's cycling group, with a format designed for participation as much as for competition. The participants are divided into youth riders and those 17 and older, offering categories for full enduro, Funduro, e-bikes, youth, and children. The event's strong local appeal is evident as registration typically fills rapidly. The focus is on the riding itself: long descents across varied terrain including rock slabs, pine forests, fast flow trails, and some technical sections. Younger participants tackle shorter courses, usually around three stages and 12 km. The longest adult and e-bike courses feature about six stages, 30 km, and 1500 vertical meters, with lift access available for several categories. Funduro provides a shorter, four-stage option for adults. The race originated in the mid-2010s and has been held consistently since the latter part of that decade, with Drammen skisenter acting as the central location for the weekend.

Sturlas Markakarusell

Sturlas Markakarusell is a June trail running series held at Sturlahuset on Neperudjordet in Viken. Distances range from 3 km to 12 km off-road. It accommodates participants who wish to walk, jog, or run, meaning the start area can host children, novices, recreational trail runners, club athletes, and highly conditioned individuals. The courses primarily follow gravel roads and trails through Bragernesåsen and Hamborgstrømskogen. Each loop increases in distance, with options like 5 km, 7 km, 9 km, and 12 km starting from Sturlahuset. The field of participants often shows diversity; for instance, a 3 km race was won by an orienteering silver medalist, and local runners such as Ane N. Høverstad and Jon G. Løvendal have also been seen competing at the front.

About cycling & running in Drammen

Drammen Training Notes

Running: Locals run Drammen from the river up into the woods. Hamborgstrømskogen is the handy forest hit, with Sturlas markakarusell giving the place its old-school anchor event feel. IF Sturla sits close to that scene, and club names like IF Hellas, Konnerud IL, and Strømsgodset IF are part of the local sports map. Drammen10K and Drammen Halvmaraton give road runners the big-city targets. Moovløpet keeps the family side alive. The route runs 9 km and gains 150 m from the car park by Landfalltjern.

Cycling: Locals ride a proper mix here. Drammen Cykleklubb covers terrain, road, and downhill, with that focus on sykkelglede, fellesskap og mestring. Drammenselva gives you the relaxed spin, and Spiralen gives you the bigger effort. Åssiden Forest Loop and Mjøndalen Ride are regular names for base miles. Åssiden Forest Loop is 9 km and climbs 552 m. Mjøndalen Ride is 8 km and climbs 459 m. Drammen Skisenter has singletrack, with 113 for drops and gaps, Bollestien on the fall line, and Hennings longer and less steep. DrammEnduro is the anchor race.

Season: Summer is the best stretch in Drammen, and the city can feel properly warm by Scandinavian standards. Locals use the mild season for Z2 along Drammenselva, forest runs in Hamborgstrømskogen, and bigger rides toward Lier, Mjøndalen, or Konnerud. Drammensfjorden keeps the city centre a little milder in winter and a little cooler in summer than nearby stations. Fairly cold winters change the rhythm for both sports. Runners still have road races like Nyttårsløpet and Adventsløpet on the calendar, while riders lean harder on gravel, singletrack windows, and smart layers after the first overnight freeze around 13 October.
