polmaraton walbrzych

The Toyota Eko Półmaraton Wałbrzych is a fall running event in Wałbrzych, a city in south-western Poland. The main race is the half marathon, with a 10 km option also included, catering to runners seeking the full distance and those progressing from shorter road races. The City of Wałbrzych and Fundacja The Sport organize it. Recent editions have placed it within the Korona Polskich Półmaratonów, a Polish half-marathon series encouraging runners to collect finishes at selected races nationwide. The course details indicate an urban Wałbrzych race. Aid stations are situated on streets like Sikorskiego, Mickiewicza, and Chrobrego, offering water initially, followed by water and isotonic drinks. Bib pickup occurs at Stara Kopalnia, the city’s old mine complex, providing a local Wałbrzych point of reference before the start. The race employs a staggered start, a practical method for managing a large field on city streets. With editions already in the mid-twenties, this is an established local half marathon.

Baranowski Tour Wałbrzych

The Baranowski Tour Wałbrzych is a multi-day cycling event held in June in Wałbrzych, focusing on amateur mountain racing in the Sudetes. Participants compete in the Wałbrzych Mountains and on routes surrounding the city, with courses designed for various skill levels, not exclusively for experienced racers. The honorary start takes place at Aqua Zdrój, and all distances conclude at Schronisko PTTK Andrzejówka, finishing high in the hills. The final 10-kilometer asphalt climb to Andrzejówka serves as the course’s defining challenge, contributing to the event's reputation as one of Poland’s most demanding amateur cycling races. The weekend also features a recreational ride, children’s races, a family ride, and a Saturday evening street criterium, accommodating club riders, ambitious amateurs, families, and children. The event is named after Dariusz Baranowski, a cyclist from Wałbrzych who won the Tour de Pologne, competed in the Olympics, and had a lengthy professional career.

About cycling & running in Wałbrzych

Wałbrzych Base Miles

Running: Locals run Wałbrzych like a mountain town, because the city sits at 450-500m in a basin of the Wałbrzych Mountains. King Jan III Sobieski Park gives easy laps when legs need Z2, and the Pełcznica River keeps the city centre feeling connected. Sudecki Półmaraton o Poranku is the proper local test, with 21 km through Chełmiec and Mniszek, mostly on forest roads. The half marathon covers 21 km in September. Jedlina-Zdrój adds the trail bite with the Mountain Festival Half Marathon and Polmaraton Gorski Jedlina Zdroj 10k.

Cycling: Locals ride here with climbing in the legs from day one. One route runs 2 km as a hard nature trail. 18 km. Bike Maraton 2025 3 Wałbrzych Mega is the anchor for dirt, and Baranowski Tour Wałbrzych covers 15 km, 43 km, 79 km, 90 km, and 125 km. The south holds wooded Wałbrzych Mountains, and the west has rocky descents between sandstone cliffs.

Season: The race offers 5 km, and 50 km distances. June feels like the real summer block, because Sudecka 100 runs on June 26-27, 2026, and Baranowski Tour Wałbrzych lands on June 27, 2026. September keeps road runners honest with TOYOTA EKO Half Marathon Wałbrzych. Winter changes the rhythm more than the map, because Mount Borowa still rises to 853m and the forest roads still sit there. Wałbrzych recorded its mildest winters in 2006/2007 and 1992/1993, so locals remember that winter can go soft here.
