This variety allows participants to pursue long-distance goals or enjoy a shorter run within the park. The full marathon is certified as a Boston Marathon qualifier, providing a specific performance benchmark. The course takes advantage of the Pocono Mountains scenery in autumn, with the route detailed on Map My Run. Registration and awards are available for male, female, and non-binary participants across overall and age-group categories for the marathon, half marathon, and 10K. First-time marathon and half marathon finishers receive a plaque in addition to their medal. Participants also get a shirt and ankle running socks. A discount is offered to service members and their families.

The event is organized by T&E Care, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting local individuals and families experiencing immediate financial difficulties, particularly with housing, utilities, and food security. This marks the organization's inaugural annual race, emphasizing community support alongside the running aspect. The event aims to generate funds for direct assistance, with T&E Care reporting that over 98% of donations are allocated directly to programs, facilitated by an all-volunteer staff and the absence of office overhead. The 5K is open to participants of all ages, while the Family Fun Run/Walk has a reduced fee for those aged 10 and above, and children under 10 can participate in this option at no cost.

The 5K route crosses a bridge onto the golf course, utilizing cart paths, fairways, and a wooded trail prior to the finish at ShawneeCraft. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers and the top three in age groups, ranging from under 14 through standard ten-year divisions. Participants receive a craft beer (or soda for those under 21), a custom fleece-lined beanie, and a beer glass. This marks the race's fourth annual running.
Two Rivers Marathon Race Festival: Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K
SAT APR 3
The Two Rivers Marathon Race Festival takes place in late March at Lackawaxen Park in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania. It features a marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K. The marathon and half marathon courses are certified Boston Marathon qualifiers. The shorter races begin later in the morning from the same park area. Participants can pick up their packets the day before the race or on race morning. Parking is available across the street from the finish line at the Fire House. The course follows an out-and-back route along the Lackawaxen River. Runners ascend gradually on the way to the turnaround point and descend the same amount on the return. The lowest elevation is 617 feet, and the highest is 821 feet five miles later, with a grade of less than 1 percent. Marathon participants complete the loop twice. Mile markers are placed every mile, with road paint, cones, and additional turnaround signs for each distance. Over the past four years, only five runners have missed a turn. The race director’s policy is to double the signage when it already appears adequate.
Radnor Girls Crew Club 5K Run/Walk
SAT APR 10

About 5K races in Scranton-Wilkes-Barre

Scranton-Wilkes-Barre Training Notes

Scranton-Wilkes-Barre hosts 35 5K races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.

Locals run the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail when they want easy base miles and no thinking. The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail gives you 22 miles of stone dust trail, and the river trail from Olive St down is good. Blakely to Mayfield works for a brainless out and back up the valley. The out and back covers 56 km. Dunmore cemeteries still get steady local miles. and Barrier Breakers keep group runs and training moving. Steamtown Marathon 2026, Heroes of All Kinds 5K, and Show Your Stripes 5K anchor the calendar.

Locals ride the trail system when they want Z2 and use NEPA Velo when they want company. NEPA Velo’s Monday Night Ride leaves at 6 pm from the Marvine Trail Head and stays non-drop with regrouping stops. The route uses city roads and the trail system down to Taylor or up to Archibald. The route includes 3 km unpaved. State game lands #141 along Route 93 has gravel roads that are rideable. Ransom Road, Back Mountain, Bear Creek, and Giants Despair hold the better climbing and winding-road work.

May through fall works best for steady running, long rides, intervals, and gran fondo prep. Summer sends riders south on the D&L trail from the Black Diamond trailhead, and runners keep using the Heritage trail, Lake Scranton, Nay Aug Park, and McDade Park loops. North Pocono near Moscow works when trail legs need more bite, while Dick and Nancy Eales preserve stays more hike than run because it is too rocky for running. Winter changes the rhythm for both sports. The D&H trail gives runners and cyclists a 22-mile stone dust line from Carbondale north, and locals keep winter miles simple, steady, and mostly Z2.
