The Kampenwand Staffellauf is a two-person mountain relay held in Bernau am Chiemsee. It begins at Stachelpeterweg / Mitterweg, 537 meters above sea level, and ascends towards the Kampenwand area. SLV Bernau is the organizing body for this event. The entire course spans approximately 9.5 km, with each participant completing one uphill section instead of both teammates running the full distance.
The initial leg takes the first runner from Bernau to the handover point in Hintergschwendt. This segment is 5.36 km long and includes 301 meters of elevation gain, presenting a moderate mountain-running challenge. The second runner then proceeds from Hintergschwendt to the Steinlingalm finish line, situated at 1,452 meters. This final 3.80 km stretch involves a significant 631 meters of elevation gain within a steep ascent. This relay structure, while straightforward in concept, offers a demanding race, particularly because of the concentrated climbing in the latter half.
