The Triathlon de Bourg en Bresse is a short-format race held at the Bouvent leisure park in Bourg-en-Bresse. It includes a 750 m swim, 20 km bike ride, and 5 km run. A Swimbike option is also available over the same swim and bike distances, with a shared start for both triathlon and Swimbike athletes. The event is intended for active participants aged 16 and over, positioning it as a local race rather than a long-distance competition.
The swim consists of one loop in Bouvent lake. The bike course exits the park via Allee du Lac, utilizes the cycle path beneath the ring road, and then proceeds onto the Route du Revermont. Riders will pass through Montagnat and Tossiat, ascend a false flat towards Revonnas, and reach the course's highest point after a slight incline in the village. The return to Bouvent is fast and rolling, though athletes must decelerate significantly for the narrow tunnel under the ring road, where cyclists traveling in opposite directions may encounter each other. The run features the customary lap of Bouvent lake, concluding within the park where the race began.
