Poznań Marathon
日 10月 4
The Poznań Marathon is a 42.195 km road race held in Poznań, Poland. It starts on Baraniaka Street and finishes at Lake Malta. Originally named the Hansaplast Poznań Marathon, it evolved into a city sports event under its present name, now ranking among Poland's largest marathons. The race attracts both experienced marathoners and those running their first marathon. Runner feedback highlights a fast course, favorable weather, and a well-organized finish. The event also features a half marathon for inline skaters and a wheelchair race, extending the scope of race day beyond the marathon itself.
Marathon du Cher
日 10月 11
The Marathon du Cher takes place in mid-October in France's Cher department, Centre-Val de Loire region, with all distances concluding in Vierzon. Participants can select a full marathon, half marathon, or 10 km race, all commencing simultaneously in the morning. This event is relatively new, offering practical amenities such as bib collection, parking, shuttle services, bag drop at the finish line, and runner tracking. The full marathon route extends from Saint-Doulchard to Vierzon, incorporating sections of the Canal de Berry. The half marathon begins in Mehun-sur-Yèvre, and the 10 km race starts in Foëcy. The canal provides the race with its distinct local character, stretching 324 km through the Cher department. It originates at the étoile de Fontblisse in Bannegon and diverges into routes towards Montluçon, Marseilles-lès-Aubigny, and Noyers-sur-Cher. Historically used for industrial transport, the course is integrated with this significant regional infrastructure, not solely relying on rural trails.
Marathon du cher canal de berry - Bourges
月 10月 12
The Marathon du Cher Canal de Berry is a road running event held in Bourges, located in the Cher department of central France. It is scheduled for October, with the specific date yet to be confirmed. All three races commence in the morning at 09:30. Participants can select from a 10 km race, a half marathon, or the full 42.195 km marathon. The event attracted over 1,700 registered runners in its last edition, offering a substantial turnout without the scale of a major city marathon.
Ekiden 36
日 11月 8
Ekiden 36 is a six-runner marathon relay held annually in November in Châteauroux, France, within the Centre-Val de Loire region. This event, which began in 2008, sees each team cover the full marathon distance of 42.195 km, divided into specific legs: 5 km, 10 km, 5 km, 10 km, 5 km, and a concluding 7.195 km. The race evolved from Châteauroux's former 10 km and 20 km events, with its format adjusted to include a wider range of participants and foster a more communal atmosphere compared to standard road races. The race emphasizes team performance over individual times, allowing club runners, friends, work colleagues, and students to participate together. Recent editions have attracted close to 3,000 runners, featuring 497 teams and approximately 500 schoolchildren. The rules ensure the relay progresses efficiently: teams have a 4-hour, 30-minute time limit. If the fifth runner has not completed their leg by 3 hours and 45 minutes, the sixth runner is dispatched. For official recognition, all six team members must be distinct individuals, upholding the integrity of the ekiden format and highlighting the collective nature of the achievement.
Semi-marathon de Vierzon
月 3月 8
The Semi-Marathon de Vierzon is a March road race in Vierzon, in the Cher department of central France, with the start and finish at Gymnase Fernand Léger. The main event is a 21.1 km half marathon, and the same meeting also offers a 5 km race aimed at a wider field. VVF Athlétisme organizes the event, the half marathon carries a Bronze FFA label, and the course can qualify runners for the French Championships. The half marathon is run over three loops through the Villages district, using roads such as Rue Jules Guesde, Chemin du Verdin, and Chemin de Saint Priest before a stretch along the Canal de Berry. It is described by the organizers as varied, technical, and demanding, with a 2 hour 30 minute limit and a 10 km cut-off at 1 hour 15. The race has been held for more than 45 years, while the 5 km gives local runners and less experienced entrants a shorter option on the same program.
Semi Marathon de Châteauroux
日 3月 14
The Semi Marathon de Châteauroux takes place in mid-March in Châteauroux, located in the Indre department of central France. Participants can choose between a 5 km race or the official half marathon distance of 21.0975 km, accommodating both those seeking a shorter run and those preparing for a longer road race. The race is organized by La Berrichonne AC and starts at the Stade de la Margotière. Recent participation has increased, with approximately 800 runners registered a week before the event, up from around 600 previously. The race is designed for runners of all levels, featuring a course suitable for various abilities and offering participants a chance to see Châteauroux during the competition. The mid-March weather has historically added unique conditions, with one year experiencing unexpected snow and another facing rain.
Le semi-marathon de Châteauroux
月 3月 15
The Châteauroux Half Marathon is a mid-March road race held in Châteauroux, offering both a 21.0975 km half marathon and a 5 km race. These are city runs, suitable for those seeking the full half marathon distance or a shorter road race within the same event. The half marathon begins at the stadium and follows a single-loop course through the city. The 5 km race also starts at the stadium, utilizing its own one-loop road course. While the half marathon is the more popular distance, the 5 km adds a broader, more accessible dimension to the day.
Marathon de Cheverny
土 4月 24
The Marathon de Cheverny begins at the Château de Cheverny in Loir-et-Cher, located in the Loire Valley. The main road races are structured around a marathon, half marathon, marathon duo, and a 10km event. This same event weekend also features the Trail des Châteaux de la Loire, offering 63km, 35km, and 14km trail runs, alongside children's races and a walking tour. Approximately 7,000 runners participate annually, creating a sense of a wide-ranging running festival rather than just a single-distance marathon. The routes traverse the Sologne forest and wine country, guiding participants past vineyards, wine cellars, and sections near the châteaux of Chambord, Cheverny, and Beauregard. Cheverny includes a detail related to Tintin: Hergé based the Château de Cheverny on the model for Marlinspike Hall, Captain Haddock's residence. The event emphasizes local food and wine, with aid stations offering regional specialties, Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny wines, local products, music along the course, and many participants in costume. Its inclusion in the Challenge de la convivialité reflects the atmosphere; the weekend is as much about dining, socializing, and enjoying the château surroundings as it is about competitive racing.
Marathon Du Pays Des Chateaux - Cheverny
日 4月 25
Cheverny now attracts so many runners that entries can sell out months ahead, and organizers are choosing a cap over chasing bigger numbers. The Marathon du Pays des Chateaux - Cheverny is an early-April race weekend in Loir-et-Cher, in France's Loire Valley, featuring a road marathon, half marathon, trail races, and a four-person marathon relay. Courir a Saint-Gervais organizes the event, and the field has grown from about 4,800 to around 7,000 participants in only a few editions. The organizers state this is about the limit: roughly 15,000 people passed through bib pickup and awards, and they prefer to protect the experience rather than push toward 10,000 runners. Prices range from approximately 48 to 68 euros, which contributes to the race's appeal for runners seeking something simpler and more affordable. The marathon is closely linked to the chateau country around Cheverny. The route is being adjusted to include more forest running, remove a short loop within Cheverny, and use a first loop in the castle park followed by another section alongside the castle. It also passes Troussay, one of the smallest castles in the Loire region. The organizers intend to allocate more space to the trails, marathon, and relay, while reducing the half marathon following a sharp increase in demand. A 42 km Maratrail is also planned, starting from Chaumont castle and connecting locations such as Madon, Cheverny, Beauregard, and Chambord. The field includes quick marathoners around the 2:40 mark to slower runners who may soon have pace groups near 4:45 and 5:00.
Marathon de Cheverny et trail des châteaux de la Loire
月 4月 26
The Marathon de Cheverny and trail des châteaux de la Loire is a race weekend held in Cheverny, within Loire château country, featuring both road marathon and trail running events. The trail races, also known as Trail du Pays des Châteaux, are offered in 63 km, 35 km, and 10 km distances, accommodating runners seeking a short off-road race or a longer challenge. The event has run for over twenty editions. Recently, the trail races demonstrated increased competitiveness. With consistent routes and similar weather conditions, the winning times for the 63 km were reduced by approximately 30 minutes, the 35 km by nine minutes, and the 10 km by seven minutes. Race director Pascal Nourrisson attributed this to a stronger field of participants. Local runners Pierre Richer and Julie Chevallier performed notably; Richer completed the 63 km in 4:48:51 and finished the marathon distance in under three hours.
