Steinkjerstafetten 2026

Steinkjerstafetten is a short relay race held in Steinkjer city center on the Thursday of Steinkjermartnan. The start and finish are located by Torget and the church tower, with the race course centered on the town square instead of a long road path. Steinkjer Friidrettsklubb organizes the event, which features a straightforward format: teams of four runners each complete one short leg. The youngest mixed and 11-12 age groups run legs measuring 240, 320, 240, and 320 meters. The 13-14 age groups and the open business or mixed category use legs of 560, 240, 320, and 560 meters. Older youth, senior, and veteran teams compete with legs of 560, 800, 880, and 560 meters. Participants include children, workplace teams, and veteran runners, positioning it as a community relay during market week rather than an event solely for club athletes.
